The design insight is profound in its simplicity. Hospital dialysis machines are built to serve multiple patients per shift inside a clinical environment with trained staff, reliable infrastructure, and specialist maintenance. They integrate extensive redundancy because the environment demands it — and because the market that buys them can absorb the cost.
